Energy Leadership Is a Superpower

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Invisibility? Flight? The ability to see the future?
Back in the early 1980s, there was a quirky TV show called The Greatest American Hero. (Cue the theme song: “Believe it or not, I’m walking on air…”)
In the show, aliens gift an ordinary man with a superhero suit designed to help him save the world. There’s just one small problem: he immediately loses the instruction manual. The rest of the series is him crash-landing into walls, shooting lasers in all the wrong directions, and trying to figure out how this incredible suit actually works.
It’s funny, and it’s also a perfect metaphor for leadership. Because whether you realize it or not, you’re already wearing your own superhero suit. You’ve had it all along: the extraordinary capacity for creativity, empathy, resilience, and influence; however, no one ever handed you the manual.
Discovering Your Inner Operating System
That’s where Energy Leadership comes in. It’s one of the most profound frameworks I have encountered, and it offers something most leadership philosophies don’t: a practical way to understand, measure, and shift your energetic state and, by extension, the energy of everyone around you. Think of it as the ultimate “operating system” for your inner world. Once you understand it, you begin to see energy everywhere; how it fuels your conversations, shapes your decisions, drives your teams, and even determines how you experience success.
It’s as if you suddenly see the Matrix code of human interaction. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
You begin to notice when fear is guiding your actions instead of purpose. You can feel when frustration is draining a team’s momentum. You can sense when inspiration and trust are quietly transforming a group of individuals into a true community. And most importantly, you realize you can change the energy.
Energy Awareness (In Practice)
At its core, Energy Leadership invites us to move from reaction to creation, from survival energy to purpose-driven energy.
At the lower levels, our energy contracts. We see problems instead of possibilities.
As we rise in awareness, energy expands. We lead with curiosity, compassion, and clarity.
At the highest levels, we move with intention and ease. We don’t force results; we generate them naturally through alignment and presence.
Leaders who understand these dynamics can do something extraordinary: they can consciously shift the energy in a room. They know how to transform tension into trust. They know how to replace burnout with meaning. They know how to model a new way of being that inspires everyone around them to rise. That’s not management; it’s energy mastery.
Learning to Use Your Suit
Most people spend their entire careers unaware of the power they carry within them. They rely on old patterns - overworking, overcontrolling, overthinking - because no one ever showed them how to tune their energy to a higher frequency.
But when you begin to understand your “super suit,” everything changes. You stop reacting to life and start designing it. You stop chasing balance and start generating it. You stop managing people’s behaviors and begin transforming their energy. You stop climbing mountains that don’t matter and start ascending the ones that do.
Energy Leadership isn’t about pretending to be positive or endlessly upbeat. It’s about being conscious; choosing how you show up, moment by moment. It’s about recognizing that your state of energy shapes your reality, and that by mastering it, you can change not just your performance, but your presence.
